Swope Park Community Center Demonstration Garden

4201 E 63rd, Kansas City, MO

The Swope Park Community Center Demonstration Garden is a joint project between Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City and Kansas City Parks and Recreation.  The 6,000 sq ft garden wraps around the front and side of the Southeast Community Center in Swope Park.  It focuses on plants native to our region which are more adapted to our soil and climate and provide nectar and host functions to support pollinators. A Monarch Way Station is in the garden. The garden is a work in progress, with new areas planted every year. There is always something blooming in the garden.

Our Extension Master Gardener volunteers work in the garden March through October on most Wednesday mornings, weather permitting.  They also do weekends, when needed. They love to talk about plants, give tours, and answer visitor’s gardening questions. They also maintain a Display Board that showcases MGGKC and garden activities.
