Demonstration Vegetable Garden at Kansas City Community Gardens
6917 Kensington, Kansas City, MO
KCCG is a non-profit membership organization that helps people grow vegetables and fruits. At their headquarters community garden site, Extension Master Gardeners maintain two 25’ x 20’ plots where they grow an average of 25 varieties of vegetable for demonstration purposes, measuring crop yield, plant vigor and general suitability for local use. Vegetables selected for demonstration have included okra, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and beans.Â
Our Extension Master Gardener volunteers not only tend the plots but answer questions posed by other gardeners and participate in the outstanding good fellowship of the Kansas City Community Gardens. They can be found working in the garden on Tuesday and Friday mornings during the growing season. Produce is donated to the Raytown Emergency Assistance Program.
