Kansas City Rose Society’s Rose Day Celebration

May 31 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Kansas City Rose Society will host its annual Rose Day in the Loose Park Rose Garden.

The Laura Conyers Smith Rose Garden is in the northwest corner of the Jacob L. Loose Memorial Park at 5200 Wornall Road in Kansas City, Missouri. Rose Day celebrates the 3,000 roses in the garden in their first full bloom of the season. For 95 years, the Rose Society has been stewards of the garden, planting rose bushes and tending them through the blooming season. Activities during Rose Day include performance by Fountain City String Quartet (12:30-2:30 p.m.) Amy Lynn Studios Chalk Art (noon-3 p.m.) Floral Art photo op (selfie opportunity) sponsored by Florasource KC to be installed on east side of the fountain using selection of garden roses to compliment current blooms in the garden (noon to 3 p.m.) Children’s Art exhibit in the northeast corner of the garden. Children’s activities include sidewalk chalk available, as well as a selection of temporary flower tattoos that can go on quickly with water. There are lots of fun flowers and colors. An inflatable bee will be roaming the garden and passing out single roses. Extension Master Gardeners of Greater KC will be on hand at Rose Day, offering expert, research-backed advice on cultivating flower gardens that attract pollinators. We’ll also have engaging activities suitable for gardeners of all ages.
