Hummingbird Festival

September 5 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Celebrate the Ruby Throated Hummingbird as they prepare to migrate. Presentations and activities scheduled throughout the weekend that will intrigue any bird lover.
Thursday, September 4: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
10 a.m. – Noon: Make a hummingbird perch from the DeWitt Center
1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: Learn about hummingbird migration. Presentation is in Eva Cooper Lodge at the Nature Park.
Friday, September 5: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
10 a.m. – Noon: Make a hummingbird perch from the DeWitt Center
1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: Learn how to attract hummingbirds to your yard. Presentation takes place in Eva Cooper Lodge at the Nature Park.
Saturday, September 6: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
8 a.m. – 10 a.m.: Professional hummingbird banding, taking place behind Eva Cooper Lodge
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Experience the MCPL Reading Rocket
10 a.m. – Noon: Make a hummingbird perch in the DeWitt Center
1 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: Learn about hummingbird migration. Presentation takes place in Eva Cooper Lodge at the Nature Park.

Help us celebrate Missouri’s smallest bird before they head south for the winter!

Extension Master Gardeners from Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City and the MGGKC Children’s Program will also have family-friendly activities, demos and displays all three days, to help you learn why hummingbirds are such important pollinators.
