Children’s Mercy Hospital Garden
Northeast Corner of Oak Street and 22nd Street
The Children’s Mercy Hospital Garden features raised beds, in-ground beds, a children’s garden, bee hives, fruit trees, and flowers. Its goal is to grow food and provide growing and healthy eating education to patients, families, and the community.  Through grants and donations, the garden has water access, an irrigation system, a surrounding concrete walkway, and a storage shed with plans for an adjoining pergola to be built. Produce from the garden is primarily donated to Kanbe’s Market to give weekly food bags to families in the Hospital’s Fruit & Veggie Connect program.
Our Extension Master Gardener volunteers provide gardening support to plant, maintain, and harvest the garden. They also provide educational information to garden volunteers and other interested parties through one-on-one consultation, small group discussion and formal workshops. They volunteer at the garden on a flexible schedule using Sign-up Genius.
